Japanese Ikebana has a long history that dates back to the Muromachi period when Ikenobo was established. In comparison, the Ohara school, which was founded during the Meiji period just over a hundred years ago, has achieved remarkable growth and prominence. Today, among the vast array of over 400 Ikebana schools, the Ohara school stands out as one of the three major schools, recognized for its significant influence and contributions to the art form.

It is the most Ohararyu-like Ikebana style invented by the Founder Headmaster, Unshin Ohara, when the Ohararyu was born. Moribana is a hallmark of Ohararyu, and unique to Ohararyu as well. Moribana is a style that emphasizes the spread of the area by using a flat container (basin) to pile up the material.
Heika is a basic style of Ikebana that uses tall vases. This style inherits the genealogy of Ikebana, which has been used since the Edo period using "Nageirebana", which decorate materials in the vase and express them into natural shapes. Based on the tradition, it has been updated to fit to the modern sensibility.
Ikebana is suitable for modern living spaces and can handle a variety of diversified flowers. There is also a type that is devised so that it can be seen not only from one direction but also from various directions, and it is easy to go and remember, so it is this flower design that you first learn in the Ohara style.
